The first part is The Pad Project. This portion will require some planning, sewing, and hands-on preparation and is a wonderful opportunity for our Relief Societies and others to work together on something that can have a lasting impact. These reusable pad kits can help provide dignity and, importantly, help girls stay in school. What may seem like a small contribution to us can make a tremendous difference to another girl or family.
Please join us at Rebecca Compton’s home, 1710 Stillhouse Hollow in La Cima, to cut fabric and assemble the pad kits (please bring scissors). Multiple “open house” options for your convenience. If these days don’t work for you, you can still participate by sewing kits at home. Projects must be completed by September 30th. Young Women are welcome to help too! If you’d like to donate cotton flannel or polar fleece (in at least ¼ yard increments) or sew/help from home, please contact Megan O’Neill 304.476.8685 or Rebecca Compton 208.919.7021.

The second part is a clothing collection. This portion is simply about gathering and donating items that are already available in our homes.
The Preston Trail Ward has been asked to collect gently used adult clothing suitable for warm weather. Donations can be dropped off on the doorstep of any RS Presidency member or given to them at church through September 29th.
Although these are two different types of service, they are part of one combined stake effort, and everything will go to the same organization — the Agbonkonkon Foundation.
The Agbonkonkons are a family in the Preston Trail Ward. They are originally from Nigeria, and their family foundation has established ongoing programs to support children, families, and individuals in need throughout their communities in Nigeria. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with them. Here is information they shared about their foundation:
“As a family, we are deeply committed to supporting the needy and less privileged within our communities. Over the years, we have built strong partnerships with schools, orphanages, churches, and community organizations to deliver meaningful and consistent support to those in need." Our initiatives are structured around key seasonal and recurring outreach programs. In August and September, we focus on back-to-school support by providing educational materials and assistance to students. In December, we distribute food supplies to help families during the festive season. In January, we support students with school fees, registration for high school leaving certificate examinations, and the provision of sanitary supplies. In April, we conduct medical outreaches and organize visits to orphanages and correctional facilities to offer care, encouragement, and essential support. Beyond these scheduled programs, we remain responsive to emerging needs throughout the year, ensuring timely assistance wherever it is required. Our overall mission is to bring hope, dignity, and practical relief to individuals and families while fostering lasting positive impact in our communities“.
