Come Follow Me—For Individuals and Families for next week
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 developments and is taking steps in several areas to provide assistance, help missionaries be safe and effective, address concerns regarding member safety and plan for upcoming events. Please go to the following link for additional information regarding best practices released by the Stake and Church Headquarters.
Employment - If anyone is out of work, underemployed, or if you have or are aware of employment opportunities, please reach out to President Schaack (214-517-2125 ), Bishop Schofield (801-358-7190) or Brother and Sister Cragun who are the new Ward Employment Specialists (540-719-2425).
We have wonderful missionaries serving our ward who are bringing the spirit to the homes of our members through virtual Zoom meeting visits. It has not only been strengthening to families, but it also gives us a great opportunity to support these missionaries and get to know them as they are far from home and experiencing unique challenges.
We also know that at this time many people are feeling a desire for increased connection with others. The missionaries would love to teach families in group Zoom meetings with multiple families. To combine our desire to connect with each other, along with the opportunity to support and benefit from missionary lessons, we invite you to consider inviting other families (perhaps your ministering families or other friends) to a combined Zoom meeting with the missionaries where they can teach all invited families together at the same time.
To do this, please just take the initiative to reach out to other families and the missionaries to coordinate this. Please see details below under "Missionary Lessons for Ward Members" on how to schedule lessons with the missionaries.
Per the guidance of President Platt and President Dalton of the Dallas Texas Mission, we have been given guidance and an initiative to help our full time missionaries teach the Gospel and baptize converts during this unprecedented time of COVID-19. Currently, our missionaries have been given the directive to “remain mainly in their apartments” for the time being and so now we have the opportunity to work with our missionaries virtually through digital mediums to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ with our families and with our friends.
We have been asked to have our full time missionaries Elders Meyers & Holt teach each individual and/or family the Five Lessons from Preach My Gospel, namely:

It is with great joy that we announce the completion of the Prosper Stake Center. In this building, testimonies will be gained, hearts will be softened, and sacred ordinances will be performed. While a traditional dedicatory meeting is not possible at this time, we are pleased to announce that the dedicatory prayer and accompanying program will be broadcast live via the Internet on May 17 @ 6:00P. We will have more details about this special meeting in the coming days. For your entertainment the Stake Presidency has prepared a special "news" broadcast that can be watched at Prosper Stake News!
The Prosper Stake Center stands not only as a place of worship but as a symbol that the love of the Savior extends to all of God's children. It is this message that we had hoped to convey to our community through an Open House.
At this time, we would normally host an Open House. But due to the current circumstances this is not possible. With that in mind, we invite all members of the Prosper Stake to join us in figuratively extending the spirit of the Open House out from our physical building and into the hearts of those in our communities through simple acts of service. We feel that such an "outpouring" of service is an appropriate symbol of gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the blessing of this beautiful Stake Center and a warm reminder to our neighbors of what our Stake Center represents. We pray this will be a fun, lighthearted way to feel unity as a Stake and serve our neighbors. Here are the details:
· We are setting a goal of 1,500 volunteer hours as a Prosper Stake between now and May 17th.
· Attached to this email are ideas for simple acts of service that can safely be done under our current conditions. Please go to Link for attachment.
· Please document your service with a picture or short video (10 sec. or less) and send to prosperstakeserves@gmail.com
As part of our building dedication program we will enjoy a slide show of the pictures we've gathered. The slideshow may also be shared with our community leaders to help them know of our dedication to service within our communities. Additionally, we will have a special video treat from the Missionaries serving from our Stake.
More details will be communicated through our Stake Relief Society. But for now, we invite you to get started as individuals and families by flooding our neighborhoods with acts of service as we look forward to the dedication of our Prosper Stake Center.

We hope you continue to have faith building experiences as you study Come, Follow Me. We would like to invite you to download and use the church's Living app to share your thoughts and impressions, especially during this time when meeting together each week is not possible.
Sharing your spiritual insights through the app is simple – open the app on your device, click on "Circles" in the bottom right, then select the group that is most relevant. For example, you can select "Adult" to share with all adult members of Sunday School.
We look forward to reading what you have to share! Thanks,
Brother Dold, Sunday School President
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 measures the ward Nauvoo youth trip has been cancelled. That does not change the fact that we had a lot of fun planning and holding activities to prepare for the events! A big thank you to all those that participated. Thanks to our Specialists and leaders who planned these activities, and a special thanks to Brother & Sister Judd for planning and preparation for the Nauvoo program.
There are currently no in-person Addiction Recovery Meetings due to COVID-19. However, zoom meetings are being held every Tuesday night at 9:00 PM. Anyone can attend a meeting by simply clicking here: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6433449337
This is the only scheduled meeting that is being held, but if you are aware of needs beyond what that schedule can accommodate, just reach out to the Zimmermans, Brother Sallaway or President Gillespie for further assistance.
All church meetings for Prosper 2nd Ward (including sacrament meeting) are suspended until further notice. For authorization to administer the sacrament in your home for the month of May please contact Bishop Schofield at 801-358-7190.
Although all Temples are temporarily closed, members are encouraged to maintain a current temple recommend; please schedule through Brother Barker at 469-207-0750.
At this unprecedented time the Bishop wants everyone to continue reaching out to their ministering families and make sure they are doing well. Please reach out to President Schaack or Sister Sorenson if anything needs to be brought to their attention.
During an emergency, alert and warning officials need to provide the public with life-saving information quickly. Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs), made available through the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) infrastructure, are just one of the ways public safety officials can quickly and effectively alert and warn the public about serious emergencies.
What you need to know about WEAs:
