Dear Brothers and Sisters:

We appreciate your faithful efforts to help others come unto Christ. As a stake presidency, we are excited to begin preparing for the Church’s Light the World initiative. As the holiday season approaches, hearts turn to our Savior Jesus Christ. As His disciples, we can help families and individuals come closer to Him through “normal and natural” ways.

During this season, we invite you to consider four simple ways to help others come unto Christ:

Missionaries in our stake are currently teaching or seeking prepared families, and your personal efforts combined with the missionaries will have a powerful impact.

All members - we need your help! Please complete this short survey to identify emergency equipment and preparedness. The survey should only take 2 minutes.

2019 Youth Fundraiser for Nauvoo

The youth organization will be holding a garage sale on Saturday, November 16 to help in the cost for next year's Nauvoo trip. Please gather and identify items around your home that you can donate for the garage sale. Please see flyer for more details

2020 Nauvoo Youth Trip

Save the date: We are planning a youth trip to Nauvoo May 26 to May 30, 2020. This will be for Teachers/Mia Maids and Priests/Laurels.

Eagle Project

We have the opportunity to help serve the community and help a Boy Scout on his Eagle Project. Drew Thronton will be working on his Eagle Project on Saturday November 9 from 9am-1pm. The address is 3980 East Prosper Trail. More information to come.

The temple will reopen November 12

Youth Protection Training

If you have a calling working with children or youth, you need to complete Youth Protection Training available here. All leaders and teachers of children or youth are to complete this training within one month of being called.

Emergency Prep

During Cybersecurity attack:

• Limit the damage. Look for unexplained charges, strange accounts on your credit report, unexpected denial of your credit card, posts you did not make showing up on your social networks, and people receiving emails you never sent.
• Immediately change passwords for all of your online accounts.
• Scan and clean your device. Consider turning off the device. Take it to a professional to scan and fix.
• Let work, school, or other system owners know. Information Technology (IT) departments may need to warn others and upgrade systems.
• Contact banks, credit card companies, and other financial accounts. You may need to place holds on accounts that have been attacked. Close any unauthorized credit or charge accounts. Report that someone may be using your identity.

Cyber threats affecting you, your family, and members of your community may include:

• Identity theft is the illegal use of someone else’s personal information in order to obtain money or credit.
• Identity theft can happen to anyone in any location across the country.
• Take simple steps to protect your online identity by:
• Locking and password protecting your computer and cell phone.
• Not sharing specific personal information online, such as your full name or birthday.

Setting proper privacy settings on social networking sites.

Cyber threats affecting you, your family, and members of your community may include: Fraud and Phishing

1. Fraud is the intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right.
2. Phishing is a scam by which an email user is duped into revealing personal or confidential information that the scammer can use illicitly or fraudulently.
3. Fraud and phishing attacks may take the form of an authentic-looking website or a personalized email.
4. Secure yourself from fraud and phishing attacks by:
   1. – Turning off the option to automatically download attachments.
   2. – Saving and scanning any attachments before opening them.

– Before providing any kind of information, call and verify with the source that they are indeed the ones who sent the email.
