1. Church Cleaning

Our ward is in charge of cleaning the church building for the month of February. This, Saturday February 29, everyone with the last name from A-C and anyone else who hasn't had the opportunity to clean is asked to come clean the church at 8:30. Cleaning assignments for February:

3. Service Opportunity for Families or Groups

1) The Refugee Services of Texas has an ongoing need for individual hygiene kits. This might be a great family service project, or it could be an awesome group/youth activity. Each gallon-sized ziplock bag should include:

*Body Wash or Soap

*Deodorant

*Hair Brush/Comb

*Disposable Razors

*Toothbrush & Toothpaste

*Washcloth

*Shampoo

You may drop off your kits at the home of Allan and Marjean Bird, and they will deliver them to the RST office in Dallas for you.

4. Challenge Air Volunteer Service

Challenge Air provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience to kids with special needs between the ages of 7-21 through the gift of co-piloting an aircraft. This experience is offered at no cost to the kids and their families. The McKinney Fly Day will be April 4th, 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity for families or individuals to volunteer to help or register a child to fly. 5. Prosper Stake Women's Conference

If you have a struggle, trial, fear, fight, worry or ache, come to this Women's Conference and learn of ways the Savior is waiting to help. The Prosper Stake Women's Conference will be on Saturday, February 29, from 10:30-12:00pm at the Prosper Building Chapel. There will be a luncheon afterwards. Please see the flyer for all details.

6. 2020 Nauvoo Youth Trip

2020 Nauvoo youth trip May 26 to May 30, 2020 for young men and young women turning 14 this year through graduating seniors.

The YM and YW organizations have planned the following Nauvoo prep activities:

• Feb. 12- family names
• Feb. 26- consecrating what we have
• Apr. 29- square dancing at the church
• May 6th- geo caching

7. Ward Temple Night

Ward Temple night every second Saturday of the month at 6:30 pm. Please see the attached flyer. The next temple night is the 6:30 pm session on March 14.

8. Mission Prep Class "Ask the Mission President"

Next Mission Prep Class is Sunday, March 8 at 7:00 pm at the Frisco Eldorado Building. All youth 15 and older are invited to attend. "Ask the Mission President", President Dalton, the Dallas Mission President will join us to answer all your questions regarding a mission. Please see flyer.

Next Mission Prep activity is Saturday, March 28, at 7pm at the Frisco Eldorado Building for a multi-stake dinner and fireside. The theme is "Emotional Preparation for a Mission". Please see flyer.

A Face to Face event for youth with President Dallin H. Oaks and his wife, Sister Kristen Oaks, is Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. MST. Submit questions at Face2Face.org. Smoke Alarms

A working smoke alarm significantly increases your chances of surviving a deadly home fire.

• Install both ionization AND photoelectric smoke alarms, OR dual sensor smoke alarms, which contain both ionization and photoelectric smoke sensors.
• Test batteries monthly.
• Replace batteries in battery-powered and hard-wired smoke alarms at least once a year (except non-replaceable 10-year lithium batteries).
• Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, including the basement, both inside and outside of sleeping areas.
• Replace the entire smoke alarm unit every 8-10 years or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
• Never disable a smoke alarm while cooking – it can be a deadly mistake.

Prevent Home Fires. Home fires are preventable! The following are simple steps that each of us can take to prevent a tragedy.

Cooking

1. Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, grilling, or broiling food. If you leave the kitchen for even a short period of time, turn off the stove.
2. Wear short, close-fitting or tightly rolled sleeves when cooking.
3. Keep children away from cooking areas by enforcing a "kid-free zone" of 3 feet around the stove.
4. Position barbecue grills at least 10 feet away from siding and deck railings, and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.

Electrical and Appliance Safety

1. Frayed wires can cause fires. Replace all worn, old or damaged appliance cords immediately and do not run cords under rugs or furniture.
2. If an appliance has a three-prong plug, use it only in a three-slot outlet. Never force it to fit into a two-slot outlet or extension cord.
3. Immediately shut off, then professionally replace, light switches that are hot to the touch and lights that flicker.

Fireplaces and Wood stoves

1. Inspect and clean wood stove pipes and chimneys annually and check monthly for damage or obstructions.
2. Use a fireplace screen heavy enough to stop rolling logs and big enough to cover the entire opening of the fireplace to catch flying sparks.
3. Make sure the fire is completely out before leaving the house or going to bed.

Children

1. Take the mystery out of fire play by teaching children that fire is a tool, not a toy.
2. Store matches and lighters out of children's reach and sight, preferably in a locked cabinet.
3. Never leave children unattended near operating stoves or burning candles, even for a short time.

12. Sunday Evening Discussion with Bishop

On March 22 from 7-8:30 all youth are invited to attend a Sunday evening discussion with the Bishop. More details to come.

Ward Choir will be starting up next Sunday on March 1 at 4:00 pm in preparation for some musical numbers on Easter Sunday.
